Ancient Stageira
Stageira was an ancient Greek polis in Halkidiki, central Macedonia. It is the birthplace & hometown of Aristotle, student of Plato & mentor of Alexander the Great. My grandma is from eastern Halkidki (Arnaia, Stavros, Asprovalta) among other places (Skopelos island, Epirus & other parts of mainland Greece), and my mother's hometown is very close to the site of ancient Stageira, so I've had the luck to visit it!
